McCain Benefits

Medical Plan

McCain Foods offers employees the choice of three amazing medical plans that are all administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Illinois. Employees can elect coverage for just themselves, their family, and their partner, and coverage starts on the thirty-first (31st) day of employment. All three of the medical plans offer free in-network preventative care, use the same network, and cover the same services, but employees choose the plan that will be the best fit for them, their family, and their budget.

401K Retirement Plan

Who doesn’t like free money! Free money is exactly what employees get when they take advantage of McCain Foods generous retirement plan, which matches employee contributions dollar for dollar up to 6% of an employee’s income. McCain Foods offers both traditional (pre-tax) and Roth (post-tax) options for employees. Employees can choose from a variety of investment options with Vanguard who administers McCain Foods retirement plan.

Dental Plan

Catch problems early and avoid costly procedures in the future by utilizing one of two McCain Foods dental plans. Both plans are administered by Delta Dental of Illinois and preventative care if free, which includes two check-ups per year, cleanings, fluoride treatments, and x-rays. Employees can even select a plan that carries orthodontic coverage.

Life Insurance

Once you join the McCain Team, we want to make sure that your family is covered should anything happen to you, so McCain Foods provides Basic Life Insurance through Minnesota Life for two times (2x) your basic annual earnings at absolutely no cost to you. There are three additional life insurance options designed to increase you and your family’s peace of mind. Employees can add additional basic life insurance from one time (1x) to five times (5x) your basic annual earnings, up to $1.25 million. Employees can also add Dependent Spouse Life Insurance (the lesser of $250,000 or 100% of your combined coverage) and Dependent Child Life Insurance ($10,000 or $20,000 coverage).

Vision Plan

For only a few dollars each month, you and your family can have some of the best vision insurance around to make sure that you are looking good! Each year the vision plan that is administered by Davis Vision covers your annual eye exam, new frames or contacts, and other expenses.

Short and Long-Term Disability

Most McCain Foods employees are eligible for company-paid Short-Term Disability coverage, which provides a portion of your income for up to twenty-six (26) weeks. But what happens when Short-Term Disability coverage is not enough, employees can elect Long-Term Disability coverage to help ensure that they continue to receive 60% of their basic salary.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Use pre-tax dollars for your health and dependent care expenses by enrolling in one or both of McCain Foods flexible spending accounts (FSA). The Health Care FSA allows employees to contribute any amount from $200 up to $2,500 to use to pay medical expenses not covered by your medical, dental, or vision plan. The Dependent Care FSA allows employees to contribute any amount from $200 up to $5,000 to use to pay expenses like child care, after-school programs, or elder care.

Paid Time Off/Vacation

At McCain Foods, we hope that you love work, but we also want you to have a life too. So that is why all employees are eligible for generous PTO or vacation allotments.

Be Strong Wellness Program

McCain Foods want to encourage employees to get on the road to better health with the free BE STRONG Wellness Program that is powered by Jiff. All employees and partners covered by the McCain medical plan can earn up to a $750 annual wellness reward for participating in healthy activities.

Paid Holidays

McCain Foods is a family oriented company and we know that it is important to spend time with family, especially around the holidays. McCain Foods employees will receive up to ten paid holidays depending on location and position.

Grand Rounds

McCain Foods partners with Grand Rounds to connect employees and their dependents with world-class doctors for either remote consultation or in-person visits, whether it be for a second opinion on a new diagnosis or recommendation for surgery/treatment. Grand Rounds also offers immediate support at the hospital for employees wanting guidance on care.

Educational Assistance

McCain Foods is committed to lifelong learning and has created its Education Assistance Program to assist employees in that commitment. Tuition, books, and educational fees are reimbursed at 100% for approved courses that have work-related value up to $5,250 for undergraduate learning or $10,000 for graduate programs.

Adoption Assistance

McCain Foods is committed to families regardless of what that family looks like, and to show that support McCain Foods offers a reimbursement of up to $6,000 for eligible expenses related to the adoption of a child.

On-Site Training Program

Never worked in a manufacturing facility? Don’t worry! McCain Foods Burley has a great on-site training program that consists of a combination of classroom study, on-the-job training with an expert, and feedback from supervisors and managers. We want employees to feel comfortable at work, and we work hard to make sure they get the training they need to be successful in their job.

Apprenticeship Programs

In addition to offering Education Assistance to employees that want to continue their education. McCain Foods Burley has two federally recognized apprenticeship programs. The Maintenance Mechanic Apprenticeship allows current employees to gain the skills they need to move into the Maintenance Department as a mechanic. Our other apprenticeship program is a Machine Operator School to Registered Apprenticeship that allows juniors in high school participate in classroom study and then come and work for McCain Foods on a reduced/temporary schedule until they are done with school. Both apprenticeship programs result in a federally recognized certificate.

State-of-the-Art Facility

McCain Foods Burley is adding a brand new facility that will have new state-of-the-art equipment and processes. Outside of the new facility McCain Foods is constantly upgrading and improving all of their plants and facilities around the world. McCain Foods Burley is a really great facility located right on the beautiful snake river.

Protecting the Environment

McCain Foods is built upon the philosophy: Good Ethics is Good Business. This philosophy applies to the environment as well. McCain is committed to continuously improving the environmental performance of the business by finding effective ways to reduce the adverse impacts of the business. Today, all McCain Food production facilities have concrete action plans in place to reduce environmental impacts. Goals include taking proactive measures to reduce water use, energy consumption, and carbon emissions backed by measurable improvement targets.

Work Schedule

Most employees at McCain Foods Burley, work twelve (12) hour shifts, which means that they only work fifteen (15) days a month. Additionally, the twelve-hour shifts provide a routine and stable schedule that is scheduled months and even years in advance. Our schedule allows employees to plan their lives outside of work and allows them to spend more time with the people that are important to them.

Safe Workplace

At McCain Foods, safety is our number one priority. McCain Foods Burley has worked hard to create a culture where the safety of our employees and our customers always comes first. McCain Foods Burley has many safety programs and resources available to employees, such as an on-site Occupational Health Nurse, on-site massages one day a week, and regular safety meeting and training.
